Pinoy Rock Central - A view from Leeds.

Z: Can you tell us something about your multiply account “Pinoy Rock Central”.

Leeds: Pinoy Rock Central is a music blog that caters to all sub-genres of Rock. My blog promotes gigs/events of numerous artists, may it be major or indie.

It was created last year, October.

Z: I see, what made you put up an account?

Leeds: it was suppose to be a venue where I could express my views on the rock industry but now, it’s more than that... I promote everyday gigs, and help distribute music news.

Z: Have you tried putting up a production? Or are you in a band?

Leeds: No and no. A production, maybe 2 years from now. A band, nah. My musical skills are lame. My plans for the next few years, if my blog still exists, put up a prod, put up several prods and maybe have my own website... and its forum.

Z: Just like filmet?

Leeds: yeah. (Other comments, we decided to keep it off record. May magagalit na forum e.)

Z: How did you find out about the link filipinometal.com/fuckyou ?

Leeds: I got it from one of my contacts, when he posted it, nakalagay, "Productions to avoid" so I got curious. When I viewed the link, I got surprised, ang dami pala. I had to send him a PM, to ask if that site is credible. He said that it was because he inquired once with one of those prods in the list and he was dismayed. So yon, I copy pasted the link and put it in my blog. And I update it as soon as you guys update it. I don’t promote the gigs of any prod posted. I had to delete some of the posters they put in my guestbook.

Z: So you usually check the list if it were updated right?

Leeds: Yeah, Everyday.

Z: What are your views on the productions who ask payment for bands to play?

Leeds: Pwede bang may mura? I think those prods are a pile of shit.

Z: Haha! Okay lang! Walang problema diyan.

Leeds: I think their posers in the rock industry. Bands should just play, they shouldn’t sell tickets.

Z: Why do you think they’re doing it?

Leeds: Money. Money makes the world go round. They want to earn quick. Making bands their wallet.

Z: Do you know anyone personally from the productions on the list?

Leeds: No. Wala... Buti nalang wala. Baka papabenta pa sa akin ung tickets.

Z: What can you say about the people who support the productions and think falsely about the cause?

Leeds: There are guys who think falsely?

Z: Yes.

Leeds: People who support these productions don’t understand how these guys produce. I think those people who support them are in the same level with the owners of that prod. Pieces of shit.

Z: Have you read the comments on the different music forum? About the cause mainly.

Leeds: Hinahanap ko nga ung thread na may "No to Pay to Play" or something like that. Di ko mahanap.

Z: Dahil locked na siya.

Leeds: Well eto, Exegesis was on the list dba?

Z: Someone emailed the Admin of Filmet.

Leeds: Ako ‘yon.

Z: I believe that whenever someone tries to reach out, we take them off the list, as long as it’s credible.

Leeds: I emailed the admin to take Exegesis and Heartburn off, kasi ka-chat ko ung Exegesis. I asked if they knew about the FilMet movement. sabi nila, they were aware pero they don’t do it anymore. In fact, they look for sponsors na. Like months ago (before the FilMet movement), they asked if I could be their sponsor. I declined, kasi my blog was still fresh pa nun. d pa ko tumatanggap ng sponsorships. So anyway, sabi ko, I’ll try to get them off since nakalagay nman sa website nyo na i-contact kung gusto nyo ipaalis sa list so un, nag-email ako sa admin to get Exegesis and Heartburn off. Exegesis lang tinanggal.

Leeds: What I’ve learned thru this movement. The sad thing about it is bands will do anything to play. Kahit na anong gawin basta makasama sa lineup.

Z: Do you think that having bands pay to play is exploitation?

Leeds: Do you? (Laughing emoticon). Well kasi, ganito lang yon, for me ha. The goal of productions is to help bands gain exposure, to make them a mainstream act and to help bands gain gigs in bars/clubs etc. Ang band, they just play, all they have to do is to play, show off their skill and......drink.

Z: Since that you are on the No to pay to play side, have you gone tired supporting the cause?

Leeds: No, because if don’t support the cause, I support corruption and people who are corrupt are assholes. I actually put that in my blog eh. "This is corruption in the music industry".

Z: Have you heard negative feedbacks about the cause? What are your comments about it?

Leeds: I’ve heard a prod that said na "pasikat" lang ang FilMet.com because of the movement they were on the list pa nun. I think na they were just guilty na ganun nga sila. Alam ko na yung prod na yon, off the list na. At least I know that they've changed their ways.....and that’s a good thing.

Z: What can you say about the people behind the cause?

Leeds: I think it’s a nice thing to do and I’m glad that their courageous enough to start a movement against numerous CORRUPT productions, they are helping up-and-coming bands choose the right prod, which prods to avoid and finally may police na ang rock scene natin.

“This blog does not support ticket selling productions. We support FilipinoMetal.com's advocacy against these productions.” nasa front page ng blog ko yan. – Leeds.

To Leeds of Pinoy Rock Central, Thank you very much for your thoughts on this. - Zsazsa
