Last thursday I received an e-mail from someone asking me a very old question that has been answered, argued and discussed a millions times before. (I'm exaggerating of course) I gave her a short reply and I think she still doesn't get it.

Subject: who's gona pay the bar?
Message: who's gona pay the bar? have you ever thought of this? maybe productions need help from bands in order to continue promoting bands by conducting events and in order to do this, they need funds...ive witness several times that productions, most of the time, even leave their personal belongings at the bar because they dont have enough money to pay the bar.
So I responded:
yes we have thought about it already. if a production is going to organize a show and set to fail by not being able to pay the bar then they should not organize in the first place. thanks.
ps. this have been discussed numerous times already in the forums at filipinometal.com
Her response:
dont u think that's inconsiderate, dont you even give a damn about those prods who tries so hard to promote bands...uhave to give it to them some how, if it was'nt for them most amateur bands will never get a chance to step on stage.all of the productions i know failed one way or another and if all of them would listen to what your saying then who's gonagive chance tothose thousands of amateur bands who dreamto step onstage and be heard? would you? maybe you'll say u would, but how many times would you do it and spend your own money to promote this amateur bands?would big time producerswho never fails give them a chance?... its like stealing dreams from this kids...think about it... i know3 sidesof this...i was in an amateurband, big productions never gave us a chance, i was in a production and always spend my hard earned money just toconduct an event, did'nt matter if i fail because i was a fan of these bands i include in my events.but do they actually care if i fail or do they think the way you do? andi was a staff in a bar who always accepts this prods whomyou call failures and as expected they always fail to pay the bar and sometimes we end up not getting our salary, why so? becausebands do not have guest, bands do not order and prodfails to pay the bar. but the owner of the bar never gets tired of this, becausehe was a fan as well, of bands who never gavea damn just likeyou.udont know the real deal behind this im sure.
ps: why wont you post our argument?
Christine. There are productions who give out free gigs most of the time and I suggest you try to visit Filipinometal.com/forums check the arena section, you would find good opportunities for bands who want to be heard. Its a hellmet production gig where the event is on open genre. So that means its any other type of music besides metal. We know what we are talking about.
Remember, failure to pay the bar is not the band's fault. It is how you should market your production and event to make sure that it would be a great success. And also, welcome to almost 10 months ago.
